8 years ago today we brought home our baby boy Kaeden Scott Olivas and the adventures in parenting began~! Yesterday Kaeden celebrated his 8th birthday. He's turning into such a loving helpful young man and I am so thankful to be his Mom. He started 2nd grade last Thurs. and is loving it! He excells in school and loves going which is great! I hope his attitude about school continues to be this positive through the years. Happy Birthday to my "Tiny" man Kaeden.....
We celebrated on Saturday both of my boys birthdays with a joint birthday party as usual. Much easier on us being that Kai has a birthday in 9 more days!! The theme of the party was Toy Story 3 and it turned out great! My mom as always was amazing and so helpful. Couldn't have turned out the way it did without Gramma Vicki! Thank you Gramma Vicki!!!!!!!!!!!!! I will never be able to thank you enough for all you do for us, I suppose I'll just have to pay it forward with my own grandkids someday! Gramma Vicki made an awesome birthday cake that looked like Andy's bed from toy story with little toy story toy figurines decorating the bed. The headboard and footboard were made with gingerbread and turned out amazing! Pics to come, but for now I figured I should just get this typed out before I forgot ;) She also did her signature mini personal cakes for the boys which turned out adorable. We had a great turnout for the party and kids were crawling around my yard everywhere we looked! It was chaotic but perfect all at the same time! This is the first year we did not have a pinata in all of Kaeden's 8 years :( Last Sept our tree blew over onto our house Labor Day weekend while we were out of town so we had no tree to hang the pinata from! So we jsut got creative and did a few different games instead. Gramma Vicki came through big time on prizes so no kids left empty handed. We did an army man hunt (similar to an Easter Egg Hunt but using army men) We guessed how many army men were in the container and Sam the little 3yr old won. So cute! We played a game similar to musical chairs but rather then sit in chairs we just sat the kids in 2 circles (one for older kids one for younger kids) and had them pass a toy story 3 beach ball to the person next to them while the music played. When the music stopped the person holding the ball was out. Last game was "there's a snake in my boot!" We used Daddy's motorcycle boots and tried to throw snakes into the boots. All in all I think the party was a success! The kids seemed to enjoy themselves and it was great for the parents to just hang out and visit! Thank you to EVERYONE who was able to make it or who took party in the planning, preparation or just attending of the party :) We had all of the siblings for the weekend so it was a full house! Late nights and early mornings. I was excited for this morning even though it was a school day so that I could "sleep in" LOL
Onto Kinleigh.... That kid is going to walk before we know it. Big Brothers will see to it that she walks sooner then I want her too! :p Just a few minutes ago Kaeden was teaching her how to use the walker toy and she was walking up and down our sidewalk pushing it along!!! I told him to stop it already!! LOL I have noticed today that all she wants to do is stand. She stands holding onto almost anything and is cruising not only furniture but walls as well now. Cruises to where she wants to go and if she runs out of things to hold onto she drops to her butt and crawls. I'm not ready for a walker! She is supposed to stay my baby forever! She turned 10mo old on Sat :( Bittersweet! She also crawled up the steps on our front porch for the first time this afternoon. She was pretty proud of herself. The one thing I WANT her to learn to do however is to crawl DOWN the steps safely so I can not worry about her so much ;)
Ok update over for now. Daddy is home with dinner ingredients so it's time to cook!

Let Summer Begin!
Finally the end of July and August and now it is super duper hot!
We spent the last two weekends at the lake with great friends. Misty Bill and Matt came in from the west side with jet ski's and stayed with Lindsay. We all had a great time at Steamboat Rock Park playing in Banks Lake. THe beaches are amazing there and the kids had a great time! Lots of sun, fun and friends. I must say Mondays were rough on me both weekends however, thinking too much sun and late nights with early mornings!
Kinleigh is a crawling fool now. She crawls around on one foot and one knee/leg. It's the same crawl Peightin and Quintin did. She's also pulling up on everything everywhere. She has decided pulling hair is fun and laughs everytime she does it. I on the other hand find it less funny. She's getting close to waving and will imitate sounds like lalalala mamamama dadadada and a sound that sounds like Hi. No real words yet though. She is starting to give kisses. The open mouth kind. And few and far in between! She's such a stubborn little thing! She's been awfully fussy the last few days so I am wondering if she's going through a growth spurt or trying to sprout out some teeth? I hope whatever it is ends soon cause I am spoiled by my happy little girl and this is wearing on Momma! LOL
I've been going through the house the past two weeks decluttering organizing and preparing for a yard sale. I hate doing this but I love the results! Clean closets with room to fill with more junk! LOL
The boys' birthday party is coming up Aug 28th. So hard to believe I am going to have an 8yr old 2nd grader and a 5yr old preschooler!! Where does time go? Both boys are super excited for school to start :) Tomorrow morning I am going to meet up with the old treasurer from PTO and get info on how that job works. The kids don't know about it yet so they'll be excited to go hang out on the school playground for a bit. Not too long though cause the heat just might kill us! LOL Then Thurs morning we have orientation at Kai's preschool. I think it's neat that they will both h ave the same teacher. I just hope he does well! My social bug makes me nervous. However my NON social bug worried me and he's doing amazing!
Both boys were growing their hair out all summer because they wanted hair like Justin Bieber. Two nights ago my Kai guy decided he wanted to be bald like Daddy and gave me permission to shave it! YAY! I shaved it at a level 4 and it looks super cute. Kaeden's hair however is starting to "grow" on me and I have told him that if he wants to keep growing it long we'll see how it goes for another month or two. I think I'm starting to like it believe it or not! The helmet is slowly turning into just a head full of hair. LOL
I am going to be an Aunt again. Jared and Tammy are expecting a new baby the beginning of 2011. Should find out soon whether it's a boy or girl. Jared says boy Tammy says girl. Guess we will see! Tammy told me today that Miss Peightin has a teeny tiny hairline fracture below her knee cap. I tell you Kai and Peightin are the crazy tough kids ;)

Our house got bigger this weekend!
So Lindsay and her girls have officially moved into their own house. They are living two houses down from us. The weekend has been spent moving, cleaning, organizing, laundry and just trying to get the households in order! They aren't perfect but they are coming along. The girls got to sleep in their own room last night for the first time in a very long time! They seemed pleased.
Last night we did a small birthday party for Tatum Triniti and Riley. Lindsay and the girls came over. We lit the last of our 4th of July fireworks and then the kids finished off the many boxes of cheesey cheap sparklers. They are now out of my closet and the kids had a blast so it worked well! The kids were not expecting gifts so they were pleasantly surprised with birthday gifts. and then onto cake and ice cream for dessert and to finish off the party. All in all I call it a success. Now onto planning for the boys' birthday party at the end of the month. I am trying to pretend it is NOT August already but unfortunately it really is. This year is just flying by!
We are doing a yard sale in two weeks so the next two weeks are gonna be busy trying to prepare for it. I need to decluter! We have our garage back and our bedroom back so now I have no excuses :p Next weekend we have friends coming in from out of town and are going to have a great time hanging out and relaxing and enjoying the end of our summer.
Not sure what we are going to do tonight. After 6pm when our house clears out it's going to be very strange! I've forgotten what it's like to have just our family in our home. I am so excited to find out again though! I really should be cleaning my bedroom and putting laundry away but my nose is sniffly from allergies and I just don't wanna!
Kinleigh has now figured out that not only can she crawl but she can crawl with a purpose! lol If she wants to get from point a to point b she can! Last weekend she was crawling two or three "steps" to get a toy. This weekend she is going from room to room and even discovered the back room and dog bowls! Oh let the fun begin! She is also becoming a pro at pulling up on furniture, toys, baskets etc. to a standing position and she thinks she is pretty cool when she does this! My mobile baby will be a toddler before I know it. I better not blink!
