8 years ago today we brought home our baby boy Kaeden Scott Olivas and the adventures in parenting began~! Yesterday Kaeden celebrated his 8th birthday. He's turning into such a loving helpful young man and I am so thankful to be his Mom. He started 2nd grade last Thurs. and is loving it! He excells in school and loves going which is great! I hope his attitude about school continues to be this positive through the years. Happy Birthday to my "Tiny" man Kaeden.....
We celebrated on Saturday both of my boys birthdays with a joint birthday party as usual. Much easier on us being that Kai has a birthday in 9 more days!! The theme of the party was Toy Story 3 and it turned out great! My mom as always was amazing and so helpful. Couldn't have turned out the way it did without Gramma Vicki! Thank you Gramma Vicki!!!!!!!!!!!!! I will never be able to thank you enough for all you do for us, I suppose I'll just have to pay it forward with my own grandkids someday! Gramma Vicki made an awesome birthday cake that looked like Andy's bed from toy story with little toy story toy figurines decorating the bed. The headboard and footboard were made with gingerbread and turned out amazing! Pics to come, but for now I figured I should just get this typed out before I forgot ;) She also did her signature mini personal cakes for the boys which turned out adorable. We had a great turnout for the party and kids were crawling around my yard everywhere we looked! It was chaotic but perfect all at the same time! This is the first year we did not have a pinata in all of Kaeden's 8 years :( Last Sept our tree blew over onto our house Labor Day weekend while we were out of town so we had no tree to hang the pinata from! So we jsut got creative and did a few different games instead. Gramma Vicki came through big time on prizes so no kids left empty handed. We did an army man hunt (similar to an Easter Egg Hunt but using army men) We guessed how many army men were in the container and Sam the little 3yr old won. So cute! We played a game similar to musical chairs but rather then sit in chairs we just sat the kids in 2 circles (one for older kids one for younger kids) and had them pass a toy story 3 beach ball to the person next to them while the music played. When the music stopped the person holding the ball was out. Last game was "there's a snake in my boot!" We used Daddy's motorcycle boots and tried to throw snakes into the boots. All in all I think the party was a success! The kids seemed to enjoy themselves and it was great for the parents to just hang out and visit! Thank you to EVERYONE who was able to make it or who took party in the planning, preparation or just attending of the party :) We had all of the siblings for the weekend so it was a full house! Late nights and early mornings. I was excited for this morning even though it was a school day so that I could "sleep in" LOL
Onto Kinleigh.... That kid is going to walk before we know it. Big Brothers will see to it that she walks sooner then I want her too! :p Just a few minutes ago Kaeden was teaching her how to use the walker toy and she was walking up and down our sidewalk pushing it along!!! I told him to stop it already!! LOL I have noticed today that all she wants to do is stand. She stands holding onto almost anything and is cruising not only furniture but walls as well now. Cruises to where she wants to go and if she runs out of things to hold onto she drops to her butt and crawls. I'm not ready for a walker! She is supposed to stay my baby forever! She turned 10mo old on Sat :( Bittersweet! She also crawled up the steps on our front porch for the first time this afternoon. She was pretty proud of herself. The one thing I WANT her to learn to do however is to crawl DOWN the steps safely so I can not worry about her so much ;)
Ok update over for now. Daddy is home with dinner ingredients so it's time to cook!
