Happy late 1st Birthday Kai Guy!!!!!!!!!

Where did the past 13mo go? How did my newborn I held in my arms last year turn into this walking talking little man? Why do babies grow up into little people so quickly? My least favorite part of being a mom is watching the time fly by too quickly, my absolute favorite part of being a mom is watching my babies grow into little men... How contradicting is that? lol Sept 8th Kailer Steven Olivas turned 1 year old!! We had a joint birthday party for the boys on Sat Sept 9th and it was a blast. We had a decent turn out for it. The cakes were made courtesy of Grandma and I am SO IMPRESSED with how cute they turned out! We were supposed to have a "Cars" theme for Kaeden and a "Baby Einstein" theme for Kailer but Kaeden decided he was having Baby Einstein also so all we had was a Cars pinata and the rest was Baby Einstein. Worked out great and the cakes and decorations couldn't have been any cuter. Thank God For Grandma!!!! We had 2 pinata's, one for the older kids and one for the babies. The older kids had a cars pinata that took forever to break open, and the babies had a little dinosaur pinata that us adults finally ripped open for them :) The weekend before the party we got Kaeden his big birthday present which was a Polaris 4 Wheeler Power Wheels and Kaeden just LOVES it! It goes 2.5 and 5 mph and reverse and he rides that thing like a pro. He's my little stunt man and we have to watch him carefully as he likes to try different riding positions that are too dangerous in my opinion! Ex: Riding backwards, riding only on one side etc. His baby brother loves to ride on it with him and it's too cute to watch my boys playing together. Kai's big gift from us was a gift we went 1/2 with Grandma and it's a bounce and spin zebra. Bummer thing is that Kai has short legs and can't ride it yet LOL He loves to spin the music/noise maker and dance and bop around but can't get on it and bounce on his own yet. At least he'll be able to use it for quite sometime before he outgrows it!!!

LindSay came down the weekend after the party and helped us organize and clean out our garage... Do you have any idea how GOOD it feels to be able to walk into our garage and not trip over anything? The house is really ours to do with what we want when we want, although that thought is STILL sinking into my head. I feel like I still need to pay "rent" each month and forget that it's a HOUSE PAYMENT and it's OURS~!!!!!!!

A few new things on Kai. Kailer is growing by leaps and bounds. He still doesn't talk much though. He loves to babble and reminds me of his big sister Tatum when she was a baby. He looks at you, talks to you, knows what he's saying, and all we hear is babbles LOL But the facial expressions and hand movements let you know that HE knows what he's saying ;) He got a 5th tooth in so now has 2 front teeth and the tooth to the left and his bottom 2 teeth. We had his Dr appt on Mon and he's officially weighing in at 20lbs and 27 3/4in tall or short, however you wanna look at it LOL He is turning back into the round ball he was at birth, short and round! He reminds me of a midget with his body proportions and he's just too adorable. His body is very long and his legs are barely existent! He can wear anywhere from 12mo-24mo shirts but has to wear lots of 6-9 or 6-12 pants or one piece outfits. Kaeden was built the same way and has legs now at 4yrs old so Kai has hope~!! Kai loves to shake his head yes while saying "yea". I think he's starting to understand what this means and I really am enjoying it. We're always asking him if he wants something and usually he'll tell us "yea" with a head shake. Although yesterday when I told him to let me change his diaper I swear he shook his head no and said something!! He has shaken his head no a couple times but nothing consistent. Usually if he doesn't want something he just lets out the "Kai Growl" (This is a loud loud loud aarrrrr) and we know that the answer is no LOL He loves to point at things and is getting much better at it. What he's pointing at 1/2 the time Ih ave no idea but it's sure cute anyway! He's figured out how to turn himself around and slide off of our couch and bed, but he's not very good at it yet and still tends to fall on his butt off our bed which does not make him a happy camper. If you ask him to "Go get _______ (daddy, mommy, Kaeden etc) he'll go find them happily. It's so amazing to see his brain functioning and understanding what we are telling him! He's beginning to test his legs and try walking really fast ( no running quite yet ) but usually this results in him falling down and getting upset still. He comes to me and tries lifting my shirt up when he's upset because he wants to nurse LOL Kailer loves to play with his big brother now. If Kaeden is running through the house, Kai is following him laughing, if Kaeden is riding outside on his scooter, Kai is following him as quickly as possible yelling at him. I never realized how great it would be to have 2 kids and love it most of the time ;) Every once in awhile when they are both grumpy and whining or tired and being difficult I swear I'm done, but then when they are playing so nicely I just want another baby so badly. If you say "Kai Kai" Kailer will look at you and stick his tongue out at you. If he wants you to stick your tongue out he'll start sticking his out until you do it too. He loves to have me stick out my tongue so he can play with my tongue ring. A couple new words in his vocabulary are Mama, Dada, Hi (this one is few and far between), ni ni (night night) which I think means boobies as I always ask if he wants to go night night before I nurse him LOL. He's also learned to give high fives and in the last week is getting really good at it.

We've been going to MOPS which I think is really great for Kaeden. He is not too good at socializing with other kids or adults especially when Mommy or Daddy is not around so he's having to learn to do this through MOPS. I love going and socializing with other MOmmies while I get a free break from my boys and they get the opportunity to play with other kids their age. Tues morning we went to the Fire STation with MOPS and learned about Fire Safety. Kaeden was stubborn and wouldn't get very involved, I sure hope that he'll learn this with time!!! I know he's not a shy kid, yet when he gets in situations like that he clams up and clings to me like a baby!

I won a costume on Ebay last night so it looks like we're going to go as a swarm of bees for Halloween ;) My boys are gonna be the cutest bees on earth even if Mommy and Daddy look like ghetto bees LOL

I'll update more soon as I know there are more things I want to say but cannot think of them at this moment! Below are some pics of the things I've typed about :)

Happy 4th Birthday Kaeden Scott

Wow yesterday my firstborn turned FOUR YEARS OLD! Where did the last 4yrs go? I can vividly remember his birth and the hours after his birth and our moments in the hospital and bringing him home... He's such a big boy now.. he's a big brother... he's my pride and joy and I love him more every day~ For his day we baked cupcakes together and he did such a wonderful job helping me out. He is a great cupcake decorator!!! After dinner we all had cupcakes and Kaeden had his special cupcake that he made and decorated with 4 candles in it. He blew the candles out like a champ and then we gave him a gift to open. It was a power ranger and he loved it :) He didn't believe us for most of the day that it was his birthday though LOL I think he's confused since his party isn't going to be until the 9th. We are going to have a combined party for Kaeden and Kailer as they are so close together and with the move and everything we needed to go as simple as possible this year ;)

Onto the move... We're all moved in and loving our new home. It took me awhile to get used to living here and for the first couple weeks I didn't like it here at all. I missed my old home and had a serious case of homesickness :o I also got very sick which I am sure did not help me out one bit when it came to enjoying my home as I was stuck on the couch and could do nothing to make it feel like it was my home. I finally got on some antobiotics and am doing much better now. HOpefully that never happens again as it was miserable!!! Last weekend Lindsay came down and helped me get all the decorations up on my walls and it definitely feels more homey :) Kaeden and Kailer have adjusted very well to the new house and seem really happy here :) I do still miss my neighborhood on F street but it's not like we moved to another state ;) So we do keep in contact with them. I am going to work on cleaning out my garage today as we are going to have a yard sale this weekend and try to clear out some of this junk we've accumulated and make some extra cash while we're at it ;) The thought of a yard sale alone with 2 kids is kinda scary though LOL

A few updates on Kai.. Wow he's changed SO MUCH since my last post on here. The first weekend in August Kai started taking little steps here and there and did that for a couple weeks.... Then this last Saturday the 26th he started walking everywhere! He can stop and go and turn and sit and stand. He is officially a walker !!! It is so sad and so excitiing at the same time! He still refuses to sign things to me and continues to grunt or scream like a beast when he wants something. He loves to dance and will dance to anything that has a beat. He even started dancing to a car alarm that was going off the other night LOL If it has a beat he will move to it! Last night he started sticking his tongue in and out of his mouth and was pretty proud of himself ;) He has figured out how to point at things and loves to clap. He follows his brother around like they are attatched and if you ask him where Kaeden is he'll go find him most of the time. He LOVES his big brother and his big brother loves him! They play together very well. Last night Kai was attacking big bro and they were both laughing and having a great time. It melts my heart to watch the two of them play together and enjoy eachother so much. Kai has also learned a few new words~! last update he said nothing at all. This time he is saying Uh Oh (his first "official" word) Kinda funny that Kaeden and Kai both had the same first word LOL he also says cracker, and yuck. He has a definite temper and is getting good at throwing temper tantrums!! He finally got that 4th tooth in and now has 2 on top and 2 on bottom. I missed his Aug dr appt as I was sick and in Hermiston for his weight check but I weighed him this week on our home scale and it said 18 LBS!!!!!! YIPPEEEEE So he's definitely catching up and I am not in the least bit concerned. I'm kinda glad we didn't go to the dr as he hadn't quite had that growth spurt and I'm excited that when he goes in for his 1yr appt his weight should jump considerabley on the charts and the doc can leave us alone about it :) I swear he gained those 2lbs in his belly and cheeks LOL He looks SO CHUNKY lately there!! Kai is my lovey baby. He is always coming up to me and holding me and kissing me and snuggling me. He still loves to be down and moving around, but he is always wanting to be held also and that is fine with me :) I love that he is still my "baby" even though he's turning into a toddler. Well he is grabbing my mouse and keyboard and begging to be held as I type this so I"m gonna end this for now and will update more later!

Changes in Life

Well things are changing for us. Friday July 14th we signed the final paperwork on our home and we are now HOMEOWNERS!!! After all of the worrying and the whole homebuying process we have finally finished!!! We will begin painting and texturing walls in the new house this weekend and cleaning the heck out of the house to get rid of all traces of dog ;) I am so excited to move into a home that is OURS, but on the other hand I am very sad to leave my neighborhood. I love it here and will miss my neighbors dearly. I love the relationship we have with all of them and just hope that the neighbors at the new place can come close to comparing with what we have now. I've been packing all week on this house and need to get a lot done today so that we can start moving boxes and stuff over this weekend! After waiting so long for this to happen and feeling like it never would now I feel like we just don't have enough time to get it all done! Kaeden seems a bit anxious about this move. He is always asking me "mom what about the computer when we move? what about my bedroom? what about my tv? what about my toys?" I think he's having a hard time comprehending that everything from this house will go to the new house. He's been acting out a bit lately also and I think it has a lot to do with Mommy/Daddy being stressed and the move being stressful. I'm so excited that he'll have his OWN room though!! well it will be the "boys" room but for now it will mostly be Kaeden's and I'm just sure he'll love having his own space. I hope things calm down a bit after we are all moved in and settled. Financially I'm totally freaking so hoepfully things will work out in the end.

Kai had his weight check on Monday and they still aren't happy with it. Last month he weighed in at 15lb4oz this month he is 15lb12oz. not a huge weight gain but enough that Im' happy with it! He eats like a HORSE! I cannot believe how much this kid eats and I have no idea where he's putting it all but I think he's healthy. The Dr wants me to give him formula with my breastmilk but even when I mix formula with breastmilk he refuses to drink it. He just hates formula and there's nothing I can do to change his mind! He is loving eating "real" food though and I think we'll just stick with that for now. He looks and acts healthy to me. I will discuss with his Dr next month (yes they want to see him for ANOTHER weight check) that maybe he just has a high metabolism. He is developing great mentally and physically so I think he's fine. He is now standing by himself all of the time. He crawls over to a toy or a couch or a table etc, pulls himself up and then lets go. Last night he even crawled onto his piano and balanced on the chair. I've got a pic of it that I'll post ;) That 4th tooth still hasn't broken through yet, but the 3rd one is coming down nicely. i've been calling him snaggletooth because it looks lonely up there LOL I am trying to teach kai to sign More and Milk and Drink so that maybe he can ask for what he wants rather then screaching and screaming at me to get it!! So far he just gets more angry when I try to get him to sign... Someday it will click. He knows what the signs mean, just won't make them for me ;) He's learned the word "sit" .. or what it means at least. His new favorite thing is to stand up holding onto the arm of the couch and when I tell him to "SIT" He'll throw himself backwards onto his butt and laugh at me. He will do this repeatedly. He loves this "game" I like that he'll sit rather then stand up and fall over the arm of the couch! I think he might be trying to say Dad as this morning when daddy got up for work Kailer wanted to follow him around the house and was crawling on the bed and to the bathroom saying "da" "Da". He then came into the bedroom and wanted back on the bed with me and said "ma". Not sure if it was coincidence or not but it was sure cute no matter what it was~!! He doesn't officially say anything yet, although it sure sounds like he says "hi" a lot too LOL I should get off of here and continue packing. I'll post a few pics real quickly and then pack and clean YIPPEE!! next time I update Kai will probably be walking :O That freaks me out! lol We will have our dish, internet and phone hopefully hooked up Fri the 28th at the new place so I probably won't get to update between now and then. Until later BYE BYE

The Learning Never Stops!

Wow it's amazing how Kai is blossoming over the past few weeks. He went from crawling at the end of May to pulling himself up on EVERYTHING left and right. He loves to be standing and checking things out. Thursday evening (one week ago today) we were all sitting out in the front yard chatting with our neighbors while waiting for Jared and Tammy to arrive. He started crawling over to me and pulling himself up onto my legs and then LETTING GO! Once he realized he was standing on his own he got excited and did it over and over again. most of the time only standing for a few seconds, but now he can stand for 5-10 seconds before toppling and even took one small step towards me. I am SO not ready for a walking baby!! He gets so excited for himself when he does this and it just melts my heart!

Monday Kai had a couple things to add to the "milestones" list. He got his third tooth!! Top Left tooth has broken through. This would explain a lot of the horrid sleeping nights I hope! I was sure the right would follow within the day but it's still hiding out right beneath the gums. Won't be long and my baby will have no more gummy smile :( I think that he's still having trouble sleeping because of this tooth and my nipples are SO RAW and cracking from him pulling on and off that I am wondering if it's thrush or crazy nursing baby. I've treated for thrush just in case and continue to lather on the lanolin. I am not letting him nurse as often lately to try to heal my nipples up and it downright makes Kai MAD! He gets so very excited when I let him have his milk lol. He also learned to wave Bye Bye. If you tell Kai Bye Bye he'll wave his right arm at you. This is also how Kai likes to dance lol When he hears music he starts waving his arms in the air. Last night he was bouncing his body up and down to the music also. And last accomplishment is that he is learning to clap. He does nto do it consistently but a lot of the time if we tell him "clap clap" he'll clap his hands together or if he does something (such as standing or waving or dancing) and we tell him YAY GOOD JOB YAY He'll clap his hands. I also noticed him clapping his hands to the music on TV last night.

He's a crawling fool. Kai Kai and big brother love to crawl around the house and Kaeden is enjoying him being more interactive. Kaeden loves to "wrestle" with him and does it very carefully most of the time. There have been a few accidents where he was too rough but I don't think he's ever made Kai cry from their wrestling around so that's good news! He did get his first bloody nose on Monday but that wasn't from wrestling. Kaeden threw a tantrum about something while Kai was standing to close and knocked Kai on his face. Freaked me out!! Blood came pouring out of his nose. It stopped pretty quickly and he didn't cry too long but I still didn't like that one bit! I HATE seeing my boys hurt and there is nothing like a stream of blood to put a chill in Momma's tummy.

We have our home inspection tomorrow morning and HOPEFULLY will close on the house next week. I've got butterflies in my tummy thinking about it. I want to start packing and cleaning this house but Ir efuse to do so until everything is signed into MY NAME at that new house. I'm just so terrified that something bad will come up and stop the whole process. we'd lose so much time and effort not to mention $$$$ that we have put into our new home. It would be great if everything goes smoothly and we can get this move done and over with!

Steven goes next Tuesday with his Dady for court so we're hoping that they'll let him stay in the states and ease the families mind over that stress! I sure hope by the middle end of next month our stress level decreases significantly ;)

Gonna try to upload some pics now...... TTFN

Immobile Days Officially Over

Well as I suspected in my last post, my immobile baby is no longer immobile. After returning from camping Memorial Day weekend Kai officially started to crawl. He probably would have crawled that weekend but the weather while camping was snowing, raining and all around cold so we couldn't really put him down on the ground to enjoy himself. Our camping trip went wonderful even though we got lost going up and had to turn our minivans into 4x4 machines on mountain backroads and ended up with a bad alternator on the drive home... Thank goodness for AAA and Tammy's ex husband *lol* Yes Tammy's Ex had to tow my van back to tammy and Jared's house. How ironic huh?

Onto more updates... Kai has now mastered crawling around where he wants to go and pulling himself into a standing position. He has not really started cruising yet but that will not be far behind either :( My baby is turning into a toddler right before my eyes. 2 Nights ago kai pulled himself up onto my nightstand, then moved himself to Kaeden's car bed, back to the nightstand and then to the side of my bed. This is the extent of his cruising at this point. I wish he's just slow down with his learning lol He has gone from having no balance whatsoever a month ago to becoming VERY balanced the past week. When he started walking holding our hands all over the place he was super wobbly, no foot control and if I let go of one hand he would fall. Yesterday we walked the living room while I held onto just one hand and he walked like a big kid. He has also managed to stand for a few seconds at a time before crashing down on his bum. Kaeden loves to come along and help Kai stand up and walk the living room. He's an awesome big brother. Kai can also follow him around the house now and I've heard them playing in the bedroom together and it just melts my heart.

Quick update on our house... We are so close to closing on our first home that I can't stand it!!!! We have an inspection on the house July 7th at 10am and should close the week after! By July 15th the house should be ours. We had a major scare with the loan last week though. Stupid loan guy didn't find that Steven had a judgement/lien against him for his court fines that we pay monthly and called me TWO WEEKS before closing to let me know that we had to pay off the balanace or could not get the loan. That was $3843.50 to come up with.. OUCH. Thanks to my Daddy we did not lose our home..... I was so scared..... I paid the balance off with savings money, and my Dad reimbursed me the money so I could put it back into my savings account and we now will pay my dad the monthly payment rather then the courts. It is a nice feeling to know that debt is taken care of through the courts as he's had that fine since he was a minor~!!! We've put so much into that house to lose it now might just send me to the looney bin! We are hoping that before the 7th we can get in there and finish up as MUCH as possible so that we can get everything on the loan at once rather then having to pay parts of it out of pocket. We'll see what happens.

Last Weekend my baby brother became a married man!!! Crazy to think that he is now a husband and a father. Lucky for me I love Tammy like she is a sister and a best friend and couldn't have asked for him to marry a better woman. I dont' have very many female friends so having her in our lives has been a blessing and it's nice to have someone I have so much in common with ;) Kaeden and Kai love their Aunt Tammy to pieces and we are so happy that she is now part of our crazy family.

After the wedding we all headed to the Oregon Coast for their Honeymoon LOL My mom helped me out more then I expected and I couldn't possibley thank her enough for everything she did for us. The help with gas was a tremendous help, and then to pay for our admission to the Aquarium, Ripley's and wax works was just great. We still spent more then we should have for the weekend but I think I can mess with some numbers and make things work out smoothly in checkbook/bill land ;) THANK YOU MOMMY (I know you read here) Not only did we hit the Aquarium, Ripley's and Wax Works we also went to Sizzler for dinner (first time for me) and WOW was it yummy! This was one thing that I did splurge on for our family a bit and we enjoyed every minute of it. That evening while checking Jared and Tammy into their motel room we all walked down to the beach and Kaeden and I played in the ocean. It was absolutely awesome!!! We tried running from the waves but Kaeden isn't a very good runner in the ocean lol I told him he couldn't run and he told me " yes I can run, I just fall better" lol Everytime a wave would come at us he'd turn to run and then drop to the ground or lift his feet off the ground leaving me to drag him out of the water and leaving both of us soaked. It was the best feeling in the world playing in the ocean with my son.
That night Daddy gave me a grand tour of all the work he has put into their beach home.. WOW it's amazing what he's accomplished. Everything has been done by him from the ground up and this home has totally taken shape and we were even able to sleep in a bedroom downstairs and shower! Ok so the walls were see through but it was still great ;) As we were driving home Steven told me that he is so impressed and proud of my Dad and all that he has done with that house. He said that he wishes that when he was my Dad's age he could be as talented and dedicated as my dad is and that he didn't have the back pain that he has because he doesn't think he'll ever be able to do anything like that... It made me sad and proud at the same time. Proud of my Daddy, sad for Steven...
Monday before we took off for our LOOOOONG drive home we headed back to the beach to play in the water during the day for a bit ;) This time Steven got to play with Kaeden in the ocean. I got to walk and just enjoy the sand and the waves and the sunshine and the breeze... I never wanted to leave! We found crab-like creatures that buried face first into the sand when you touched them lol We got a kick out of picking on them a bit. Kaeden Grandma and I worked on a sand castle and then dug a hole in the sand.. It was so fun and Kaeden didn't want to leave. Grandpa helped Kaeden and I find some aggets on the beach and we brought a few home along with a few seashells. I found a giant rock that was filled with holes and seashells and I just had to bring that rock home to put in my front yard when we move into our new home!! Guess what? Yesterday I looked at my rock and it looked odd?~?!? Cracked?!?! what the heck?!?!? My rock was crumbling to pieces LOL What looked like a rock, felt like a rock, etc was not a rock at all, it was more like clay!! Oh well, so much for that yard decoration. The drive home was great and we even managed to miss Portland Rush hour traffic after leaving Lincoln City a little too late. We hit Portland at 5pm and didn't get stuck in any jams!! WOOHOO We stopped by the Bonneville Dam but it was closed, we drove across the bridge of the gods and then most headed home with no more stops. It was a great weekend and we'll treasure it forever~! Unfortunately my camera got left with tammy's brother so I'll have to post pics at a later time.

Ok gotta run, Kai is grumping... At least I got some typing out. I still have more to update on so will do that later!

Making up for lost time on pics...

What the heck, it was Mothers Day so what could be better then My boys's mother with my mother all in one picture? I am usually pretty camera shy thx to the 500lb weight gain in the last couple yrs but every once in awhile I try to get photos snapped with my boys so they don't think I was never around during their childhood!!

Grandma Vicki and her 3 Grandsons. How many clicks of the camera before you get a pic with all kids looking and smiling or at least not crying? Who knows, never happens for us LOL! Kaeden making a face, Kai looks concerned, and Quin just looks plain pissed. Awww Family Love....

Kaeden made Grandma Vicki a "card" that he insisted on coloring, sealing, stamping and addressing. He was very proud of this card and even slept with it and took it shopping with us until grandma came up and he could give it to her. What a sweet little boy he can be! (Note the devilish look on his face LOL)

A Few New Pics

Quintin 12-13-05

"Come on Quin, give me that ear already!"

The Great Crawling Stance. We see this position quite often nowadays... just waiting for him to figure out how to move those hands and feet to navigate around the room freely. Doesn't he look proud of himself?

Kai playing with Grandpa Mel and Mommy. Like Mommy's furry hair look she's sporting? Kai's post pregnancy effect on Mommy's hair has not been a good one!!! Thank god the hair that has fallen out is trying to grow back, too bad it has to grow back and make me look like I'm trying to grow a mullet!

Are They twins? Of course not people!! Kai is 3mo older then Quintin and they look nothing alike.. Sheesh....

Kai sporting the unique "Purple People Eater" look. Gotta love trying to get rid of the evil Thrush monster!!!

A new milestone

Since my update on Kai he decided to start pulling himself into a standing position :) If Kailer is sitting close to his walker he can pull himself up all alone. If you give him a finger or two to hold onto he immediately tries and usually succeeds pulling himself into a standing position. It's amazing how in the past two weeks or so he's become so steady on his feet and is figuring out how to use them to walk across the floor to get to what he wants while holding our hands. Kaeden loves to help hold him up and have him walk :) He's the best big brother and my heart bursts with pride to watch the two of them play together. Kai tends to slap or pull Kaeden's hair which upsets big brother LOL He doesn't understand that Kailer is not doing this on purpose and tells me that Kailer doesn't like him when he does those things to him LOL.

We are going camping this weekend with Uncle Jared, Aunt Tammy, Aaron and cousin Quintin so I've got lots of packing and lots of cleaning to do! I'm going to do one more post with a few updated pics and then go clean and pack ;) Hopefully next post will be more exciting, I just had to write down the fact that my lil Kai Guy is now standing himself up and I'm so afraid he'll be on the go quicker then I anticipated! Just this morning he pulled over a laundry basket, tore all the clothes out and then stood himself up on his walker within a few minutes of eachother *sigh* I think my immobile baby days are coming to an end.........

Kai's new adventures

I'm going to have to do some updating in chunks since it's been so dang long since I last posted~!
Kai has hit a couple milestones that are pretty exciting. He is finally over 14lbs which is extremely exiting to me as of last week :)Although he is still wearing some 0-3mo clothing, mostly 3-6mo clothing and the 6-9mo clothing is on the big side for him and he's in a size 1 diaper although next package of diapers will be size 2 YIPPEE :) Mothers day weekend (May 13th) he got his first tooth, bottom right tooth. May 14th he got his second tooth, bottom left tooth :) Lucky for me he hasn't really bitten me yet. I've been a bit on the sore side but I think he's just nursing more at night again lately. At least that's what I hope it is! Last time I said that we had the dreaded THRUSH...

The Easter Bunny brought him Wagon Wheels to try out as a finger food and those went over with great success. When the Wagon Wheels ran out we decided to try some KIX and Cheerios since they are more in our price range ;) He's had cheerios only a time or two but he LOVES his KIX. He's very content to sit in his walker and munch on KIX most of the time. We have also ventured into drinking some juice in the past month. He's had apple juice, white grape juice, and yogurt juices and loves all of them.

Kai is sitting like a pro but no crawling or cruising yet. He has figured out in the past couple weeks that he can throw himself forward on his arms/hands and get into crawling position and rock and wiggle but then he sits himself back on his butt before he actually goes anywhere. Sometimes this results in him moving backwards further from what he was trying to reach in the first place LOL He has figured out that if he goes forward onto his hands and knees and then rotates to the side he can sit back up and be facing a new direction... This is how he makes circles in the middle of the living room to see what he wants to see ;) When he falls onto his stomach he gets really frustrated and instead of crawling or scooting he rolls himself onto his back and screams til we come help him sit back up. Sometimes he looks so dang close to crawling or getting up on his own and then it's like he just gives up. I'm sure it won't be long before he's a mover and a shaker so I am trying to enjoy this immobile moment of his life before it ends all too soon! Last night for the first time ever he rolled over from his back to his belly!!! He wasn't happy once he got there as he still couldn't get into sitting position but Daddy and I were cheering him on! Probably sounded to the neighbors like we were watching a sports game of some type LOL

When Kai is on our bed he's a mover! Strange how that works. He scoots himself and pulls himself along on our bed and I have to keep him away from the edge. He also rolls left to right front to back and everywhich way to get where he wants on the bed, pulls himself up on me and smacks me til I pay attention to him if I dare try to sleep in and he wants to nurse LOL. I know that since he's becoming mobile on my bed it will not be long before he's mobile on the floor ...

They grow to quickly and it is killing me that he's going to be 1 in 3 1/2 mo!!!! Where does the time fly to?

Kai is my serious little man. You can tickle him and toss him into the air and talk silly to him and he'll smile with his mouth open wide enough to catch a whole swarm of flies but getting him to actually LAUGH OUT LOUD IS a difficult job LOL Daddy calls him Smiley and always tries to get the laughs out of him but it's quite the job!! He was the same way when he first started smiling... It took forever to get him to go from small smirk (the one that you could read his mind while he thought to himself "suckers think they can make me smile, I'll show them") to a real smile. Heck he still does that with his smiles too... Kai is the king of smirking and 1/2 face smiles. I thought Kaeden was my serious man, but I am realizing that Kaeden was MUCH more outgoing then Kai was. Yes Kaeden took it all in and watched every move as a baby, but he was also super excited when strangers were not around to apply everything he saw ... Kai is more content to take it all in, watch every move... and then still sit and stare at me while I try to get him to crawl or laugh or smile etc etc etc with that silly 1/2 smile/smirk .. I can see thought bubbles form above Kai's head and I"m not sure I wanna imagine what he's thinking in there LOL

Kai loves to be held. Kai loves to be snuggled. Kai still loves to nurse which makes me ecstatic. Kai loves to eat his cereal and jar food at night too. I love Kai and will update more, but he's begging to be picked up at the moment!!!

More UPdates on Kaeden and Life to come soon.... Also will include some new pics soon!

A brief update

This was copied from my Aug boards so I didn't have to retype ;)

As for my thrush. Went to my Dr on Mon and he was completely stupid. Said it wasn't thrush, don't let the baby eat so often (use a pacifier or something) and use lanolin on it.. Went to Kai's 6mo appt on Tuesday (we're a month behind around here LOL He turned 7mo on Sat!!) and doc says yup he's got yeast in his mouth and gave me prescriptions for nipple cream and mouth drops. My right nipple still hurts and stings like a son of a gun when he latches on because it cracked really badly across the top but it does seem to be doing better. The left nipple is MUCh better and almost no pain when we nurse. Kailer is definitely my mini man and weighed in at a whopping 13lb8oz. Up a whole 3oz in a month. This is concerning me, but he's still developing so I'm not going to stress too badly about it right now. He measured at 25 1/4in tall but when I try to put him on our growth chart at home he's still under the 24in mark and they never measure him accurately so he's on the little side. The reason they are getting concerned is he went from 25% to 10% to 5% now and they don't like to see them dropping like that... although if they'd caught his "rotavirus" or whatever he had and didn't let him have the runs for 2 months straight maybe he wouldn't have dropped so badly!!! The dr suggested supplementing with formula which I refuse to do. He asked if he seemed content when he was done nursing and I told him he always does! He wanted me to give 1-2oz of formula after nursing him and I said probably won't do that. If he acted hungry and my boobies were empty then I would supplement, but these puppies are full of milk and he's the one that quits eating and starts playing/laughing/smiling at me so I'm sure he's eating enough. I am going to up his solids a bit. I was doing cereal/jar food every few days and now I"m trying to do it at least once a night, but he his is still mostly on breastmilk at this point. He does love to see me coming at him with that bowl of food and gets very excited! He has finally mastered sitting on his own and grabbing things very well to pull towards his mouth. He loves to sit on the floor and swat at toys and toss them around while talking to them It's adorable for Mommy to watch! He also decided to start saying dadadadadada this week. This week was a big week for him! He sat on his own the first time March 17th but it wasn't until this week that he's really mastered it and doesn't fall over when he turns to look at someone or something, and now he's making new sounds, the dadadada and he also is making grunting noises when he wants to "talk" to us. I just love it! He got 4 shots and took them like a champ!! He cried each time they poked him, but stopped in between all of them and also stopped crying immediately after she pulled the last needle out. I was worried that he'd be extremely grumpy for the funeral and trip out of town but he did great! I was a proud Momma

As for Kaeden's arm... I gave him Ibuprofin and Tylenol and he still wouldn't use it, said it hurt, etc. Decided I'd just have the Dr look at it when I took Kai in that afternoon instead of taking him to Urgent Care. We stopped at Steven's work on the way out of town and about 5min after he got out of the van he was running around playing and using it and told me it was all better! Strangest thing... I'm wondering if it had to do with his tendon problem in his thumb? I'll have to ask his physical therapist. I'm just thankful that it seemed to fix itself and it wasn't anything major, although it does concern me that it caused him that much pain yet nothing happened that we know of to make it hurt that badly!

Well Daddy is working on bathing the girls before it's time for Melissa to pick them up so I'm gonna end this long update Thanks for reading and I"ll try to post some great pics of Kailer Quintin and Kaeden from this weekend

Just to add to this, my Grandma Frieda passed away Wed March 29th 2006. It was a sad day, but I know her suffering is over. She lived 91 1/2 yrs and had a very full life. I hope she is in a better place watching over everyone, but especially her new Great Grandbabies that she did not get the chance to know very well but loved to pieces! This Wed, April 5th we all went to Lewiston Id for her service. It was a nice service, it was wonderful to see family that we have not seen in a long time. I had a great visit with my Daddy Wed night when I took the boys over to see him for a couple of hours. It's not very often that my Dad and I can sit down and just enjoy eachother and it was great that we got to do that. No arguments, no fighting, and not too many lectures ;)

Jared and Tammy came up this weekend so that Jared could apply for another job with the County up here and we're all crossing our fingers that he has better luck this time around! I love hanging out with him Tammy and quintin. Growing up we always got along great, but in the past year or two we've grown extremely close and it's like I've got a new best friend. I love how well the 4 of us (Steven, Me, Jared and Tammy) all get along and I love just being with them. I would be ecstatic if he got the job and moved up here so we could spend more time together. Everytime either of us goes to the other's house we never want to go home! Steven and I have even stayed Sun night and driven home at the crack of dawn for work Mon morning after Steven and I were there too late helping Jared put carpet down on his stairs... And Jared and Tammy have stayed or come when they had no plans to do so and we have a wonderful time everytime! This weekend they were going to go home Sat night and they started helping us re-arrange and shampoo our living room. Next thing I know Jared started helping Steven switch my sattelite around so I could have surround sound on my regular TV and the project turned into an all nighter so they did not make it home until today BUT I HAVE MY TV FIXED YIPPEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well enough typing for now, I've got some awesome pics to share and will try to do so later this evening. So much for a brief update huh? lol

Some new pics

A few bathtime pics of Kai's first bath in the big tub. A few pics of Kai's first times sitting up by himself! And of course a pic of Kaeden with his first completed puzzle!!

Can you believe March is almost over?

Well once again my updates were few and far between. I stink at this! LOL

Kai is doing much better since my last update. His eating issues seem to be all but gone and I'm back on a regular diet. He's nursing great and actually gained some weight! At his last appt he was 13lb5oz. Almost a pound gained in 3 weeks! His cousin Quintin went to the dr the same day as he did and weighed in at 14lb8oz... He's officially outgrown my mini man! They both went to the doc as they had some nasty colds and the doc put Kai on a nebulizer machine. We've now gone off the machine and he was doing great until yesterday when his nose got all stuffed up again :p I wish this crud that is going around would just go away and STAY away!

Kai has learned something new, March 17th Kai learned how to pull himself forward from a propped position into a sitting position and stay that way for a few minutes. He still prefers to be held and entertained but I'm sure the day is coming soon when he'll be playing independantly on the floor. It saddens me and excites me at the same time how quickly he is growing up. He's now 6 1/2 months old! It doesn't seem possible he's 1/2 way to a year old!!!! He's also moved into the world of eating solids. I never know how he'll react day to day though. One day he gobbles the food so quickly and I have to give him seconds, the next he eats a few bites and then screams at us. It seems that when he doesn't want solids he's also feeling on the yucky side so I'm wondering if they have something to do with eachother. He loves rice cereal mixed with juice and water. We've tried Sweet Potatoes which he loves, I've mashed up carrots which he doesn't seem too fond of (haven't tried the jarred ones yet) and I've mashed up pears which he also seems to love (mixed with cereal) although Kaeden decided he loved them too and finished off the can that I was planning on using for Kai so it's time to go shopping! He still has no teeth but after the last few nights of not much sleep I'm beggining to wonder if they're hurting him. I know by this age Kaeden had 2 teeth but I'm also relieved Kai has no teeth yet as we're still mainly breastfeeding and I'm not ready to be bitten! Last night we gave the baby safe feeder a try with KIX in it and he played with it for awhile but didn't attack it the way his brother used to. Amazing how two little boys can be so similar yet so different!

Work has been going well. Kaela has been watching the boys for me from 3-5 until Steven gets off work and then I come home around 7ish. I am enjoying the extra $$$ and the adult interaction but I do miss my full days home with my boys. It seems like just as I get into cleaning mode I have to go to work! That's always a bummer! The season ends in less then a month so I'm just trying to enjoy it while it lasts.

Steven and I applied for a home loan last week and are waiting to hear the results of the application. We've found the home we want to buy and can't get our minds off of it! It is a 3 bedroom 1 bath home with a fenced front and back yard and 2 car garage. It's not a huge home but definitely bigger then what we're in now and would give us more room to store our kiddos ;) I am trying to not get my hopes up too high but I just can't help it. Along the lines of high hopes Jared has applied for a job here in Ephrata at the Grant County PUD for a warehouse position and I'm really crossing my fingers he gets it! Do you know how awesome it would be to have my brother live in the same town as me again? We'll just have to wait and see what happens!

Kaeden has been growing into quite the little man. He's in love with puzzles and is working on one as we speak that I've never seen him do on his own! He usually asks Daddy or I to help him and we end up putting the puzzle together on our own. Guess he's smarter then he likes to let on! He's also enjoying his role as big brother and Kai just lights up everytime he sees his brother come around. Yesterday while I was doing dishes I came into the Living Room and found Kailer naked from the waist down because Kaeden was changing his diaper but couldn't find the baby powder. It was too cute. I love seeing the two of them interact with eachother!

Last weekend we had the girls and we will have them for the next two weekends. It was a great weekend, beautiful weather and everyone got along pretty well! We spend most of Sunday out in the garage doing some spring cleaning. It's so nice to walk into the garage and not trip over 10 things trying to get to the freezer ;) After we dropped the girls off at home we came home and continued our cleaning spree on the house. I re-organized my hutch and am loving the way it looks. No more clutter except in the cupboard where it's semi-hidden ;) I also got my computer desk mostly organized and the house picked up. Today I'll try to work on some more cleaning although with Kailer on the grumpy side I'm not sure how much I'll accomplish unless I can get him to snooze for awhile.

Last but not least on my update is our newest family news. Looks like I'm going to be an Auntie AGAIN ALREADY!!!!!! Nutsos LOL Jared and Tammy have gotten a positive pregnancy test and she goes in today for a blood test as she had 2 negatives after the positive. I'm sure it'll be positive though and really think they're insane to have two babies so close in age! I'm crossing my fingers for a girl but you know I'll be jealous if it's a girl at the same time ;) This is all the more reason that the job has to go through and they have to move here!!!!!! Tammy will need all the help she can get!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well Kai is very angry right now and Kaeden wants to show me his completed "something" in the kitchen that he just built so I should wrap this up. I will add a post with updated pics later this afternoon!

Update on Kailer's GI Appt

Well most of the appointment consisted of the Dr telling me everything I already suspected or confirming my suspicions that I told her. It was kinda like Here's what I think and what I did doc and doc says yup you were right and your doctor was wrong. *where did I sign up to be a dr? I must have slept through med school*LOL

The GI Dr suspects that Kailer had the rotavirus which caused the severe diarhea. She explained that the virus damages the small intestine inside of it and that is why he seems to be reacting to protiens in milk etc. because his intestine is damaged and trying to heal. She said I did the correct thing by pulling everything from my diet as that allows him some more time to heal. She told me I no longer have to be on the total elimination diet, but she recommends I steer clear of straight cows milk. She said she thinks that cooked milk (cookies, bread etc) should be ok but things like milk, sour cream etc especially in large amounts could upset his stomach. She told me the green poo indicates diarhea and bacteria more then a food allergy. She agreed that the mucus in his diaper was NOT ok and she was surprised his dr didn't test any stool samples during all of this. His blood tests all came back great, although one of the tests that indicates allergies was elevated.. DUH... sigh She said since he comes from such a strong allergy background (daddy, mommy, grandparents, great grandparents) there is a chance that it could be allergies and she thinks that could very well have been Kaeden's problem as an infant instead of the stupid colic the dr kept passing it off on. I think it's time to find me a new dr. This GI dr wasn't my favorite lady, but she seemed to know what she was doing. She told me if we decide to use any formula we need to use allimentum.. YIKES it's $25 a can! OWIE. I think I'll just control my diet She did give us a free sample in case we wanted to try it out and gave us the green light for solids when I want to give it to him. Just warned us to be extra careful with the introduction to watch for reactions. I feel so horrible today though. Thurs when we found out we had the GI appt I went off my elimination diet in hopes of having him react while we were at the appt. Guess when he decided to react?? Last night and all morning sigh Poor baby is miserable and now I'm feeling like a giant POS since I know I inflicted this on him. I'm kinda surprised it took this long for him to react though!! I'm hoping this means that in small doses (I went overboard on the milk/dairy on purpose) I can still have my cheese here and there provided he handles it ok.

That's most of the update. I'm just thankful he ended up being ok! I am angry that his dr did not test for this virus after the repeated dr appts in regards to this water poo. Most babies end up hospitalized from this virus from what I hear and am very thankful Kai made it through like the tough little trooper he is without ending up in the hospital, but what if they'd been able to make him feel better throughout all of this? I'm just angry that this was ignored for so long, and by the time we did get into the dr he was practically healed. He has not gained hardly any weight since Mid Dec. Shortly after Dec 13th (the day Quintin was born) Kailer weighed 12lb even. It is now Feb 21st TWO FULL MONTHS later and he is weighing in at 12lb8oz. Hmmm 1/2lb weight gain in 2 months is just not a good thing. The good news is that he has gained back the 2 oz that he had lost during all of this. The GI Dr explained it to me that all of his nutrients have been going towards healing his intestine instead of packing on the fat and he should start slowly gaining again. I sure hope so! I feel like such a bad mommy when I look at him and he looks so tiny compare to all other babies his age and I KNOW something is bothering him. It would be a different story if he was just a "small" baby.

Thx for listening and for all P&PT sent out to him.

Now onto the rest of our day yesterday. We had a wonderful trip to Spokane and stopped to visit Steven's brother Tony and his family. Wow little Sami is getting so big! I can't believe he'll be 2 in June!!! He seemed to enjoy playing with Kaeden and Kailer. Kaeden got to go outside with Uncle Tony and turn on the the police car lights and siren which he thought was very cool! we stuck around and had dinner with them and got left quite late LOL But it was nice to see them. We also shopped before the appt at Costco and spent a small fortune, but we now should have meat to last us for a very long time! LOL Thank god for my paycheck and tax returns LOL Well time to get some housework done since I'm home with 2 sneezy runny nosed boys today.

We have an appointment

I updated on my Aug 02 boards so I'm going to copy and paste my post here to start ;)

So looks like I'm having hyperactive thyroid issues again UGH. I have been "stable" for 1 1/2yrs or so now and then Sun night started having mini anxiety attacks and felt worried like something horrid was going to happen. I went to the Dr on Mon and asked for them to draw my blood and check my thyroid. Got the results today and sure enough I'm way off. Normal is .35-5.5MAX and I'm at 25.9 UGH Maybe I"ll lose a little weight LOL Gotta have a perk to feeling like crap right!?!?!?! This also explains the horrid hairloss I'm having again. I thought it was post pregnancy related but now I'm sure it's thyroid related. Onto Kai. We're taking him to see a GI specialist in Spokane on Monday at 2:15. I had cut out all foods but oatmeal, peas, carrots, apples, and rice and he is doing GREAT! Poops have slowed to 1 every other day or so and a few of them have been "normal" consistency and almost n ormal color! Like an orangish yellow instead of this army green snot stuff. Because I want the GI to see how he reacts as of today I've gone off my total elimination diet and we'll see how he does this weekend. Last weekend I cheated and had a sub sandwich and pizza and he did have a mucusy diaper which leads me to believe he reacted definitely to one of the ingredients into my "naughty" foods. I think the reason he didn't get too grumpy on me is because his tummy has had time to heal while I"ve went onto this diet so the small cheat didn't hurt him since he was not previously irritated. I feel bad to try to make him sick by Monday but I want this specialist to see what happens to him and why I wanted to see a specialist. My Dr does not think his problems have anything to do with my diet and especially after this new TED (total elimination diet) I'm really thinking he's nuts and I'm the right one here. Gosh it sucks that I"ve gotta be self diagnosing me and my son AARRGGHHH. I don't know if GI docs do anything in regards to a food allergy but this is a lady doc we're seeing and I"m hoping when I explain everything to her I'll be able to get a referral to an allergist. I really think he's ready to start some cereal or foods but am terrified with his sensitive tummy to do anything before I talk to someone who knows what the heck they're talking about!

O
nto the rest of the day... After 2 great days at the new babysitter Kaeden had a not so great day today. This week was the boys' first week with their new babysitter Amanda. So far they've both done very well and have had great reports. Unfortunately tonight she told Steven that Kaeden got "three out of 5 stars" today.. UGH He hit one of her daughters (she has 2 little girls that are two and three yrs old) and then he wouldn't stop running and jumping around and got a 3min time out. I sure hope this isn't a trend that continues! I don't pay her well enough to have my children misbehave LOL She's watching them for less then 1/2 what a regular daycare would charge me and I can't afford to pay a penny more! Let's all hope that Kaeden just had an "off" day today and will go back to being good tomorrow! He is grounded tonight from his playstation Power Rangers game because of his behavior at Amanda's, I'm hoping that tomorrow if I remind him when he gets dropped off that he lost his game tonight he'll think twice before ignoring her 10-15 times in a row. IMO she asked way too many times and was too patient, but I'm sure she doesn't want us to think 'badly" of her if he comes home thinking she's mean. I've given her permission to punish him as she sees fit, whether that is spankings, time outs or no tv, whatever she thinks needs done in the situation.

Kai is sitting on Daddy's lap chatting up a storm right now and chewing on his toes and pulling his socks off. He's getting so "big" and grown up! Saturday night Feb 11th Kailer had his first REAL laughs. we were trying to go to bed and Kaeden was talking to Kai while I had him on my shoulder trying to pat him to sleep. Kaeden kept clapping his hands together and then crashing them into the bed and saying "boom". next think I know Kai gave two itty bitty laughs. Then two more. Then everytime Kaeden would do the "boom" Kai would break out in laughter and then stop until big brother "boomed" again. He did this for approx 1/2 hour before we could get them both to settle down and go to sleep. How perfect is it that Big brother was the first person to get real laughs from the baby? It's all beginning now ;) The long late nights of telling the boys to be quiet and go to sleep, the baby brother looking up to big brother and wanting to say and do everything just like him.... I just love it and am so excited to watch them grow together.

Also adding a few pics from the weekend of the kiddos. :) Did I mention that Quintin is now almost the same size as Kai?!?! Signing out now to cook dinner and enjoy Survivor!!!
